Is your Christmas budget all set? Great! Now it’s time to start thinking that Christmas list—and we want to help out!

Gifts you can purchase from Perth businesses
It was really wise for Mark Zuckerberg to initiate Facebook Groups. These have become communities which gave us that sense that we are part of something greater than ourselves, that we are not alone, and that we have something better ahead to work for. I’m a member of a number of local Facebook groups because they immensely help me whenever I have inquiries in regards to my career, industry, or even my neighbourhood.
Having said that, this year I wanted to give back. For Christmas, I decided to support local small businessowners by purchasing Christmas presents for my loved ones from them! It’s a beautiful thought because instead of spending my money to huge corporations, I may be helping a struggling mum feed her kids, or a passionate working student fund his education.
So here are some of not-your-typical gift ideas which caught my attention. I will be tagging their Facebook business pages so be sure to check them out!
Belinda started this business out of her love for fashion, beautiful things, and you guessed it right, dandelions. She wanted to create something precious and everlasting by making necklaces she assembled herself. The end products are wonderful so go see for yourself!
This is not your usual cake shop. Cocoa & Spice have a huge following on Facebook and for a good reason. Tahlia, the owner, loves baking decadent cupcakes. She makes sure each creation she makes is unique to satisfy her client’s taste and request. Her products range from choco-flavoured, to watercolor-themed to cookie sandwiches!
Give your loved ones the gift of relaxation through Salt Float Studio. They are the newest Floatation & Meditation Studio located in South Perth, featuring the latest in DreamPod technology. Their selling points are stress relief, physical recovery and mindfulness training. Gift certificates are available ranging from $79 to $599. Check this video to know what to expect from this one-of-a-kind experience!
Love gardening but your aching back won’t allow you? Then this is perfect for you! With the simplest DIY installation, you can turn any wall, patio post or down pipe into growing, vertical edible gardens. Vertical gardening is a fun, creative way to grow plants in urban spaces. This is the brainchild of Helen, who passed away 3 years ago due to Bowel Cancer. Part of their proceeds go to Bowel Cancer research.
Bambino & Bug is a small Perth-based business and is the creation of a Teacher turned Stay-At-Home Mum, Stephanie. She makes handmade and unique custom wooden height rulers. These are made with premium grade pine that is sanded to prevent sharp edges and splinters and is sealed to prevent the ruler decal from peeling, ensuring they are of high quality and are as safe as possible for little (& big!) people. Check out her page and see the cuteness of her products!
There are still plenty of small businesses out there that you could support and buy gifts from for everyone on your list, no matter where you are with your budget goals. However, if you think your budget is not enough (or non-existent!), then call me for finance options that could be suitable for your situation. Let’s support local this holiday season!
